We are surrounded by seas of plastic. There is plastic mixed into every single spot in the ocean. Not only that, the marine life have been mistaking bits of plastic, ones that have not been turned into sludge yet, for food. As a result, many of these creatures are dying due to malnutrition and in some cases poisoning. When we take a trip to the beach, we are literally swimming in plastic.
