Perspective of a Duck and Fish

Hello everyone! My name is Evelyn Lopez and I chose to do my "art project" on the perspective of a duck and a fish. The main reason is because I wanted to show not only my classmates, but everyone else that no matter where we look, we will always find some trash laying around. Whether its on land or in water, you will always find some kind of plastic, for example. Plastic is the biggest source of pollution we find that is not only affecting us, but is also affecting the marine life. I displayed some plastic next to the duck and fish because believe it or not, that is the main reason why most of our marine life is in danger.

For the perspective of the duck, I chose to cover the whole "surface" with plastic because it's one source of pollution that is endangering us all, on land. Not only does it put our birds and other mammals in danger, but it puts us people in danger the most, since we are the ones that are using plastic; making things that aren't biodegradable. See, if we to learn how to make things biodegradable, we wouldn't be having a high risk of serious pollution.

Not only are we suffering this current pollution, but our marine life, as well, is suffering this. Anything that is not cleaned up or being thrown away proper later ends up in our oceans and beaches, killing our precious marine life. I chose to represent plastic as a candy wrapper because technically it's still plastic and something as simple and as small as this can lead to a sea animal's extinction.

For my final representation, I chose to break the plastic of the package just to show that plastic or any other kind of trash can go through any openings easily, whether its through a storm drain or running water on the streets, it still manages to reach our oceans and beaches. It's the little things that we do that cause most of the pollution in this world. In order to stop the pollution, we must react to the negativity and think about how we are hurting our environment and how we can help it become a better and safer place.

It is not food

The amount of trash that finds its way to the beach should be a red flag to the human made damage we are causing to our planet and ourselves. I decided to make a fish out of the most common trash i saw during the beach clean up which was cigarette butts. Fishes and other marine life are eating things they believe are food causing their stomach to look more like trash bags filled with plastics.

The Triangle

I found a variety of trash in my neighborhood and what caught me off guard was the fact that so many people in my neighborhood could have easily disposed of the trash properly. I found a glass bottle, a water bottle, and a Powerade bottle. I also found a lot of plastic, sandwich bags, Styrofoam, grocery ads, candy wrappers, gum wrappers, a condom wrapper, paper, plastic bags, a battery, band aid wrappers, and receipts near or on the sidewalk of my neighborhood. Most of the trash I found is recyclable, like the paper, battery, bottles and plastic bags. It’s ridiculous and sad to see so much unnecessary trash on the streets. My art project is called, “The Triangle” because on each recyclable item, there is a triangle on the bottom with a recyclable number in it. It does not take that much time and energy to dispose of trash properly and I just wanted to express just how crucial it is to recycle but making my art project into the shape of a triangle.

All the Way From...

“So have you wondered where you’re going for vacation? Well, our local Cape is just beautiful! It’d be perfect for you and your whole family. There’s something to do for everyone; painting, arts and crafts, and many mother daughter activities.”
This “postcard” represents many things, the main is the environment. Cape Cod is one of nature’s most spectacular places, where the history runs deep. “Cape Cod” represents our environment, and how we should all be eco-friendly. The paintbrush represents the picture perfect life that we can all have with nature. The mother and daughter picture represents “for the future generations”. Overall this “postcard” is a reminder that everyone needs to be eco-friendly for themselves, the environment, and for the future generations.

"Beauty of nature fading away"

My name is Jessica Pacheco a Cal State Los Angeles student; I am currently in Mrs. Hernandez English 95 class. I figured this was a good way to send a message to everyone because its a dead rose surrounded by trash which mean that when we liter we are actually destroying the beauty of nature sometimes without noticing.

chips

 Art

When being asked to come up with an art project for our English 95 class I wasn’t sure what kind of art I was going to be able to create.  I was worried that I was not going to please my professor on what she really wanted. As a current student planning to major in fashion several things came to my head about the project. I wanted to make something that represented fashion and the global warming. So then I finally realized that I already did a similar project to this already and I thought it would be perfect to use it again. In my 11th grade class introducing textiles I did an assignment where we had to create a bag out of recycle waste. So I decided to make a pencil case out of chip bags. I choose the chips Sun Chips because they are suppose to be healthier but we all know that chips are bad for you and we should not eat them as much. The process was super easy but the zipper is always the hardest thing to do. But I received a B- on my project but I was proud on the grade I got because not only did I accomplish an assignment but it also inspired me to peruse designing with organic fabric. It is one of my long-term goals to actually become a successful designer and buyer and to become a very ecofriendly person. Knowing that you can create a dress, a bag, or shirt out of trash is just simply amazing and creative. My next major goal is to create a dress out of trash bags and demonstrate it to the class. It would be inspiring to know that yes the more people live in this planet, the more trash we will have but with trash you can create the next big thing. You just need to have an open eye to spot the next trend.

Oscar's World

Hi my name is Perla Vargas and I am a current student in Mrs.Hernandez English course. My trash art project represents how trash is taking over the world and we do not notice. Oscar the grouch is having a blast by enjoying everyone's waste. p.s: Finding trash was so easy compared to finding nature in Los Angeles (wink wink)

The Newspaper Dress

Hey Guys I'm Susy From Ms Hernandez's English 95 class. My
"Trash Art" is made out of Newspaper, A Paper Bag, Brown Paper Towels, A Powerade's Cap, And Pink Paper. The message the dress is sending is that trash can be looked at differently it can change from something useless to something cute that can even be used for a little girls dress up coustume(:
Since cigarette smoking has been a common thing in my family, I decided to make my art about my families addiction to cigarettes. Whenever I see them smoking the cigarettes, they have a tenancy to throw them on the ground. When I went to clean the beach, I found out where most of the cigarettes end up. I figured at least one of the cigarettes we picked up on the beach was from my family members.

how november should be

My name is Vaneza Cordova, i'm a student at Cal State LA I made this project out of my personal trash. I saw a pizza box with soda cans and news paper
piled up on top of it and I think to my self I can start with trash inside my house. Using white trash bags as clouds, soda tops as rain, soda cans as buildings, and news paper as my background. I painted it with some water colors my old church was throwing out and with all that trash my project came together. At first I wasn't sure what I was making but I went to the store and I realize how warm it is and we're in November! I wished it was raining so I decided to make my very small neighborhood on a rainy day, because that's how November should be.

What I learned about this project is that trash is art. Literally, and I see it all around me I just never see it in an artistic view if we learn to make trash pretty and fun other people would want to do the same. I also learned that people throw ridiculously useful things away. One mans trash is another mans treasure. For this project I enjoyed not having to go out and buy stuff to make it, I literally just looked around my home and my neighborhood

Spongebob Squarepants!!!!:BY Silvestre Damian

Hi my name is Silvestre Damian I am a Cal State LA student and my trash art is Spongebob Squarepants from Mrs Hernandez English 95 class. Creating this project was fun and very entertaining for myself and sisters. Spongbob was created by two rectangular stiroa foam boxes glued together, covered with yellow pages. His eyes are made out of coffee caps. His lips are made out of left over string. His teeth are made out of sponge. His hat is also made out of sponge and a piece of magazine paper advertising verizon. His Anchor is out of marker, his hands are also made out of the yellow pages taped to the side of the boxes. That is how I created my own Spongebob Squarepants!!!

Hicks Ave's Last Tree Standing

My name is Celeste Carrasco, a student at CSULA. I created a tree out of bottle caps from bottles and cans that I collected around my neighborhood. It was a difficult decision creating this, I went through three different models to decide on what to make. When I was walking around my neighborhood with my 13 year old brother, I noticed that there were more bottles on the floor than trees. I walked to my neighborhood park, Salazar Park, and noticed kids playing with bottle caps rather than running around and being active.
I created the tree for my neighborhood to realize that as a group we can get rid of the trash on our street so that our trees can grow healthy. I picked up two dozens plastic bottles and two dozens glass bottles in less than half an hour. One of my neighbors asked me and my brother why were we carrying around bags of bottles, my brother responded, “Just making our neighborhood look nice for once”. The next day the same neighbor was recycling his own bottles. Slowly, but surely my neighborhood will understand what one single bottle can do to our environment.

binoculars

Hello my name is Susan Martinez and I am a freshman at Cal State LA. My assignment from my english class was to make trash into art. trash is everywhere you go. whether you are in your home or in your own backyard trash is there to meet you. I found the material for my project in my own kitchen. My art project consisted of waterbottles, candy boxes, paper, and a trash bag. I decided to make binoculars because it represents looking at the depth of global warming happeing in the world. I learned how we need to help the enviroment by reuseing our trash and by recycling.

Chip Tree

Hi I'm a freshman from CSULA and i created this project for my English 95 class. The title of my piece is called "Chip Tree" i made it out of a Caprisun box, the Caprisun pouch, two bag of chips, and a granola rapper. The meaning of it is to show that we're destroying our nature by littering. Message, we're polluting our city with our own hands. We have hands to hold every thing but our hands and mind don't care to place them in he trash when we're done with them. Everything is created by earth but its like we're destroying it with its own creation.

trash art !

Hello my name is Larissa from and I am in Mrs.Hernandez English 095 class. My trash are project is a rake that could be used to pick up trash at a beach or wherever is needed. The rake is made from razors and a ruler covered in paper. The reason I chose to make this is because we all believe that the ocean and the areas around us should be clean but not all of us are willing to help. So the rake is a sign that if we all come together and help we can get the job done. Hope you enjoy the piece of art.

My Snowman

Hi my name is Dominique Porter and I am a freshman a cal state la college. I am in english 95 in professor Hernandez class and lately we been discussing about the environment and whats nature. What the class notice about nature is that nature is all around us in our everyday life but peopel don't seem to recognize or take the time out to acknowledge what beautiful nature we have. Many people go around throwing trash on the floor but they don't know that they are damaging our nature. Nature have five important senses which our feel, touch, taste, hear, and smell. We use these senses everyday and we have no clue that we do. But in professor Hernandez she explain to the class how nature is very important because without nature there's nothing. Professor Hernandez asked the class to collect some recycle and create something out of the recycle. I decided that I wanted to create something thats fun and easy. But nothing came to my mind. As I thought to myself what can I make with recycle bottles, old christmas things, a shoe box, strings, old wrapping paper, and etc. All these items I had and no image popped into my head. But as I started to think harder I decided to create snowman because of christmas coming up. I began create my master piece and as I go to the end I couldn't find anything to used for the snowman nose. A thought came to my head and I ran into the kitchen where my little neice was eating on cheetos and thought to myself that a half cheetos would do. I really had fun creating this project out of recycle items.

Hello my name is Liliana Marquez and I am a freshman at CSULA. In my English class I had to create an art project made out of trash. I made a portrait of the ocean using trash that I found outside my house. I used candy rappers, water bottles, and tiny pieces of paper. I used the pieces of paper to do the sun and the pine trees. I cut out the water bottles and paste them in the ocean because all of our plastic is going to the ocean and are harming the sea animals. The reason I did a portrait of the ocean is to show people how we are destroying our world and we are also harming the sea animals. The whole point of this project is to show people how we can reduce, reuse and recycle. Doing this project has really taught me that trash can be reused and can be used to create beautiful art such as no one i have created myself. We humans have to take care of our world and appreciate what we have, Not take it for granted.

Skateboard

Hi my name is Linda Anthony and Im a Cal state LA student. My assignment was to make art out of trash that I found laying around. It was not difficult for me to find trash because it was almost everywhere. I made a skateboard out of recycled cardboard, bottle caps, paper and plastic. By doing this project I learned that I can change trash into art work and by reusing plastic and not littering I can help the environment.

little trash boy (:

Hello my name is Celia Corona, I am a student at CSULA. I am in English 95 with Professor Hernandez. My assignment was to create a trash art out of trash that is usually thrown at home. I decided to create a little boy out of plates, paper rolls, tissue paper, cotton swabs, foil, tooth picks, popsicle stick and can tabs. Next to the little boy I created a trash were the  little boy is dumping a small trash bag in and is disgusted by it. I also added some words to describe the little boy's reaction and to label the trash. I decided to name this project the little trash boy.

Box Drawer

My name is Glenn Ross Mapote and I am a freshman at CSULA. I gathered reusable boxes to create a box drawer for my daily accessories. First, I cut up the lid boxes to make drawers and placed bottle caps as knobs. People don't need to spend a large amount of money to buy an expensive furniture to place your daily accessories in/on. Just look around your home. You'll find materials that you don't use anymore, but when put together become into something convenient.

The Most Affordable Shirt and Sandals In Town

Hi my name is Maria Manzo and im a freshman attending Cal State LA. In my english class we've been having some discussions about the environment, its really sad to see how the world is falling  apart due to littering and pollution and many other causes.Laziness is the main cause of littering, people are to lazy to trow the trash to the trash can that they decide to throw it on the floor.Something needs to be done to solve this problem. As i was walking through my neighborhood  i saw a plastic bag  that was left on the floor and next to it there was a cereal box that couldnt be picked up by a good Samaritan. As i was picking up the pieces of trash i said " all this garbage that is being thrown to the floor is causing a great damage to our world and its causing both air and water pollution. With the pieces of trash that i collected i decide to make a resuable plastic bag shirt that can be used at any time and its not going to cost you any  money its a "recyclable  shirt" that has some soda cans lids that were also found on the floor and pieces of plastic  that were used to write down the word "recycle" as the main logo of the shirt. With my remaining piece of trash which was the cereal box i decided to make some small sandals that that look fabolous. Be Contious about were you trow your trash and dont litter, remember that the runoof water sends the garbage to the ocean were they have the potential to harm the wild life. So lets make a difference and lets recycle not litter =).

wall.e!!!

Hi my name is Nathalie Perez and i am a freshmen at CSULA and i decided to make wall.e for my project. I was inspired by the movie wall.e that we just recently saw in my English class. I can honestly say i had a lot of fun making my little wall.e out of some everyday trash. I make his body out of an orange juice carton, sporks for his hands, two cups for his eyes along with a TP roll cut in two, black  bendaroos for the pupils  green for the eyebrows,  straws to hold hid wheels and bottle caps for the wheels. I learned that you can take everyday trash recycle it and turn it into something fun or something useful. I know now we can have a lot less trash and have a cleaner world  if we just recycle.

Recycle and Prevents Our Beaches

My name is Mariam Foyoh, and I'm a freshman at CSULA. In my English class we were ask to make an art project out of trash. Most of our beaches are polluted by trash, such as bottle caps, cigarettes, plastic nets, soda bottles, milk jugs, and etc..The effects of these garbage trash in the beach doesn't only affect the creature in the sea but it also affects us and our health. The average american drinks 300 water bottles without recycling that will eventually find its way to our ocean waters.Which will damage sea life by destroying their organs and eventually killing them.A prevention plan can be done by cleaning our beaches and volunteering to clean the community.

Crayon Box (:

Hello my name is Karla Gonzalez currently a freshman at csula. My English professor assigned the class a project to find trash and make something out of it. What I did was walk to the nearest liquor store by my house. I found a bag of chips, drink caps, lottery tickets and cigarette boxes. Also on my way back to my house I found an emptied out old cell phone box. When i got home I started cutting everything out and placing them on to the cell phone box. What I ended up coming up with is a crayon box (: who would have ever thought that trash from the corner liquor store would have been so useful! Most of all that cell phone box was very convenient it made me realize that we should reuse what we have any thing can come in handy.

from home .. to the whole world! :)

My name is Karen Lozano and I am a freshman at CSULA.  In my English 095 class, we have been discussing about the environment and nature.  I gathered bottles, paper, and cardboard I found in my house to make a project.  I cut up the cardboard and paper to make arrows.  Then I placed the bottles in the center.  People may not notice, but almost everywhere in their homes, there will be plastic bottles, cans, cardboard, and paper  just lying around the house.  This picture shows that even from your own home, you can make a difference in the world just by doing the smallest of effort.  Recycle :)

A turtle with a square shell? o.O

Hello my name is Eduardo Hernandez and I am a freshman at CSULA. I am doing this project for my English 095 class with professor Hernandez. what you see here is a turtle with a square shell. I made his turtle out of trash I had around the house. I used an old crayon box, paper, broken pencils, lanyard, tape, and pieces of mesh from my lacrosse stick. At first I didn't know what I was going to make, which made it difficult for me. But all I had to do was put my mind into it and think creatively in order to do this. I learned that you can make many things out of trash. I live in the city of Watts and it's known for its famous Watts Towers that are made out of recycled glass bottles, scrap metal, tile, and sea shells. This shows that anybody can be creative.
Hello! My name is Vanessa and I am a freshman at Cal State LA. On the left you see a little mouse made out of paper bag, clothe, lid, plastic, and a bit of cardboard. So all of the materials is recyclable and it is an everyday use in my house.

Using trash to create a project required me to use my imagination, which is not an everyday thing for me. What this assignment made me realize is how much trash we through away and how much we can recycle. We use up a lot of objects that are not really needed everyday.

I created an evil mouse because he was upset because there was a lot of pollution going around the earth. So, all the toxin  made him evil but very cute.

wormmy worm.! (:

Hello my name is Xaviera Navarro I am a freshman at CSULA. My art progect is a worm it is made out of old cd's i owned , cotton balls, dental floss sticks Q tips and straws. It was nice doing a project like this because i had never done anything like it. There are really cool things you can come up with using trash or recycled objects. People sometimes do not see that it is actually something people may use everyday.  I never pay attention to the small things we can actually make with objects like these therefore doing this project was something interesting to me i had fun doing it. looking for things and thinking of what to make and actually putting it together.Sometimes you do not have to do something big to have fun making this art project actually made me enjoy it.

Bottle Birdfeeder

Hi my name is Damaris Barba and I am a freshman at CSULA. I am taking English 095 with Professor Hernandez. Lately we've been talking about nature and the environment. My class was told to collect some trash that is thrown out regularly around the house and make something out of it. It is amazing how many things you can possibly make out of trash. People might think trash is useless and they throw it out. I gathered some trash I found in my house and created a bird feeder. I used a soda bottle, pieces of wood I found in my backyard, and a stick. I also gathered some utilities that helped me create the bird feeder like, the bottle, scraps of wood, the stick, seeds, construction paper, glue, scissors and spray paint. I used all that to put my bird feeder together and it turned out pretty good. I think people should think twice about what they are throwing away; they might need it for something later on and if not, then they can throw it out. They don't think like, "oh, let's see what I can make out of this piece of trash" instead they throw it out. They should try to reuse and recycle stuff as much as possible. Sometimes it is little things you can do that don't take much time; you can make money by recycling. People should start to think more about what is reusable and recyclable, instead of throwing it out.

My name is Melanie Chavarin and I'm a freshman at CSULA. In my English we had to make something out of trash.  I gathered some trash that I found at my house and tried making a snowman(: I found a can, broken chopsticks, half a lemon, banana peel, and newspaper. I used the can as the body, the lemon for the head, the broken chopsticks as the arms, the banana peel for the hat, the newspaper as its scarf and i drew a smile and eyes with a marker. I tried my best and after I finished making it I found it funny that I had used trash but realized that trash is reusuable and can be used to make other things. I had fun doing this project especially because I used trash that was usual for an assignment, but it was a learning experience.

Super Girl Guitar :)

Hello my name is Kadi Nsona, and I'm a Cal State LA student. I have here a Guitar that I made out of a big box that used to be filled with donuts and as well I've used toilet paper rolls, feathers, cotton, yarn strings, bobby pins, and a hair clip. This project was a very fun experience for me because I never thought I can turn trash into something creative. Parts of the items that I used are 100% recyclable but I'll be honest and say that it wasn't going to a recycling bin it's mostly just thrown away with other trash. That really is an eye opener for me because why throw away something that we can reuse again?.   I chose to make a guitar because I've always wanted to be a Rockstar and it was awesome creating it as well.

Hey i caught some!!....Trash?

Hello!! My name is Francisco Carrillo, I'm a freshman at CSULA and I'm in class Eng 95 with Ms Hernandez. I made a boat out of water bottles, batteries, tongue depressor, kabob stick and paper. All these items are trash that my family and me use on a daily bases. However, although if put together this trash can be made into art we still should recycle and help the environment. The reason why i chose to make a boat is because there are boats out in the ocean that are fishing but once they look in there nets they find more trash than actual fish. The trash you see in my picture is found countless of times in the ocean and city. We have to all take a stand and start taking care of our environment and watch what we throw away to make sure it is dispose of properly.

Desk Organizer

My name is Jessika Rivas. I am a freshman in CSULA. Seeing how our world tears apart is an impaction of the world because we are so many and yet can cant do nothing for our world to get better. In class we are doing an assignment to think about our environment and see how we can reduce, reuse recycle. Picking up trashing was easy but thinking about how can I help the environment wasn’t so easy. I saw my water bottles and said plastic hurts animals how I can avoid that. But then I started to cut them in half and went on YouTube and I saw a lot of good ideas but one that I liked was a desk organizer. It looked like a place where I can put a pencils and other of my school materials. And then I started to put clothes that I was planning to throw away. I did four more and it looked like a desk organizer. This is a good idea because you can reuse the water bottles and use it to keep your materials clean and organized. I learned that it’s really cute and helpful and you can reuse it and help the animals be safer. This theme can relate to the class because I can teach them how to make them and more people can help the environment.

Hello everyone reading this my name is Rajah Marquez and I am writing about a project I had to do in my English 95 class. The project consisted of making art out of trash. I had gotten my trash from the park near my house. I gathered everything before deciding what I wanted to make. What I gathered was mostly was bags of chips such as takis, hot cheetos, and a new type of doritos. I also found straws and matches. I decided to make a scenery of a camping site. I cut the takis to make and used the outside to make a night sky and the inside of the bag to make stars, used doritos make to make a greenery below it, then I cut the straws to make people, I used the match box to cut fire wood, then cut the hot cheetos bag to make fire.
I learned that there is a lot of trash in our streets of LA and probably many other places. If this trash isnt picked up it then goes to the sewer and sooner or later the ocean. We as humans need to be mindful of our world and what can happen if we use our world as a dump. The theme of my art was to try to get people to realize our world is for us to use for the good not the bad we can go camping for example, but dont forget to clean up after yourself!! :)

The BUS!!!

Hi my name is Erika Martinez I'm a freshman @CSULA. I made a bus out of a juice box and bottle caps and used paper. We need to acknowledge the idea of recycling around our house and our lives. We should reuse paper if we use the back of it and instead of throwing out the juice box’s and bottle caps we can recycle them and help the environment and also make money just by recycling and also help out mother earth we live in. The reason I decide to make a bus out of this reusable Martials that I found in my kitchen house, is that the bus are hurting out environment and also humans and animals because of the fossil fuels it release and burn the process of making a bus run. We should create a more environmentally friendly transportation way so we could be healthy and also help the environment be better. We might not know it but this kills carbon dioxide around us. We need to fix this problem as soon as possible so we stop killing mother Erath and stop global warming. There are better ways of transportation is just that we need to find the ways of getting from one place to another and making bus that are better and wont hurt earth. I feel like this project made me get a better way of recycling and also the way that transpiration is killing the would we live in.

Greetings, from Brittney Avila and Jessica Guerrero. We both attend California State University, Los Angeles and we are currently freshman. We decided to visit the central business district, which features sightseeing opportunities, many of the city's major arts institutions, sports facilities and much more. Also known as Downtown Los Angeles. As we walked through the center of attraction, we collected bottles, cups, chip bags, cigarette packages and paper. It was very disturbing to see the amount of trash on every corner. While we were picking up trash, a very nice man acknowledged us and told us we were doing a very beautiful job cleaning the community. It felt good for the both of us knowing that what we were doing was bringing joy to others. After we collected a decent amount of trash, we went home and decided to build Downtown Los Angeles with the items we collected. We chose Downtown because it is the home to our city.We feel our home should be clean and well taken care of  for our own health and well being. By keeping our community clean and recycling, we believe we can inspire other people to do the same. All it takes is one step to make a difference. We hope our message gets across and people begin to take care of their own home and community.
